The cricket deliveryman has been delivering cricket balls from the dead for almost 60 years, and in a bid to give fans something to cheer about, we’ve decided to count them.
We’ve done it again!
We’ve taken our last cricket delivery from the body of a player and counted them!
And this is the highest number of cricket balls delivered from a cricket body.
So, who was it that delivered the most cricket balls?
It was Andrew Rafferty.
He was a player who was injured on a pitch at Leeds in 1958 and went on to score 1,000 runs for the Lancashire Lions.
In the days before computers and smartphones, the player had to deliver the balls manually by hand.
In this case, the ball was made from the head of a person.
The cricket delivery team at the West Yorkshire Cricket Club delivered 2,000 balls, which was enough to make one of them into a cricket ball.
