Free live football in Perth for 2019-20 is being considered by the AFL, the Australian Football League and other AFL clubs.AFL clubs will decide on the next stage of the competition’s plans when the AFL AFL Commission meets on Saturday.
There are currently five AFL clubs in Perth, including the Gold Coast Suns, and the Fremantle Dockers, which are expected to be among those deciding on the future of their clubs.
The AFL commission is expected to make a decision on the format for the 2019 season at its next meeting on May 19.
The 2018 season saw the AFL play its first ever live match, and has seen two live finals in Perth.
The Gold Coast’s clash with the Sydney Swans in the finals series was streamed live on the AFL’s live stream.AFC officials will meet with Fremantle on May 16 and will decide whether to allow Fremantle to play in the first round of the AFL finals.
The Fremantle-Sydney game was streamed in Australia by the live stream app Sportnet, and was watched by a further five million people across the world.
The Sydney Swan-Gold Coast match was watched on the live app, and more than 1 million people watched it on television.
The Suns won the series by a score of 22-20 with two goals from Mitch Brown and three goals from Nick Riewoldt.
The last match was a 24-21 win for the Golds.
